As part of our 2018 schedule of activities for the second quarter and in line with our objectives, we carried out a free one-day vocational training tagged #LEARN-A-SKILL PROJECT for graduating SS 3 learners in two government schools; Government Model Secondary School Jikwoyi and Government Day Secondary School Karu, Abuja approved by the FCT-Secondary Education Board (SEB).
The importance of skill acquisition cannot be overemphasized as it reduces the poverty rate by increasing wealth leading to a nation’s economic growth and development. We are aware of the time frame that spans between when a student graduates and when he/she gains admission into the higher institution. This training was therefore scheduled to ensure the students upon graduation, are self-reliant, well equipped and independent.
Through this training, a total of two hundred and twelve (212) Senior Secondary School students were imparted. The learners were taught to produce shampoo, car wash liquid, and multipurpose liquid soap. The Learners were also taught how to sell and market their products after production.
